Hmm... I'd probably go for a 2x6 on edge for the crosspiece to start with. Onto that I'd attach the 4x4s with hinges whose pin can be removed. Four hinges, four pins. As spreaders completing the A-frame on each end, perhaps a stretcher with a pinned tenon, like a trestle table. It'll be solid, can set up quickly, and should look appropriate. The 2x6 should have enough strength on edge to stand holding 15o lbs or more. If you don't need to break it down fully, you don't even need to remove the hinge pins.
