Bill Irwin watch

LIGHTS OUT, a new series on FX, debuts Tuesday night. It's getting very good reviews from critics. Bill Irwin has a recurring role as a "shady power broker".

It's kind of amazing that this wonderful man, known for decades as a clown and comedic actor, now has a second career wind playing dramatic bad guys (ref CSI, Law & Order: SVU, etc). Easier on the body, though, and should take him far.

If you haven't seen "Rachel Getting Married," I'd suggest adding it to your viewing list. Irwin plays the father of the bride and of her recovering drug-addict sister. The father isn't the lead character, but in some ways he's central - the relationship between the sisters partly depends on the relationships each of them has with him, his (2nd) marriage is heavily influenced by them, etc.

Oh yes, I've seen it! I went just for Bill, though I like Anne Hathaway, too. Very difficult emotionally, though great performances.

Do you know I run his website for him? I need to update it with his new work, but you can check it out - bill-irwin.com
