The first set of nominations for this Broadway awards season came out today, the Outer Circle Critics Awards. Outer Critics Circle is the organization of writers and commentators for all media covering New York theater.
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? has been nominated for
Outstanding Revival of a Play
Outstanding Lead Actress in a Play - Kathleen Turner
Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play - David Harbour
Outstanding Direction of a Play - Anthony Page
That's right, no nomination for Bill Irwin. It's criminal. I think it's more important that he get a Tony nomination next month, but I really, really want to see him get his due. He's incredible in this show.
Those who did get the nod:
OUTSTANDING ACTOR IN A PLAY
Alan Alda - Glengarry Glen Ross
Billy Crudup - The Pillowman
James Earl Jones - On Golden Pond
Brian F. O'Byrne - Doubt
John Rubinstein - Counsellor-at-Law
