With each Bush fueled fiasco, I think that this is the point that Americans collectively wake up and Bush stops being able to get away with such incompetence.
This does not seem to have happened. According to an ABC poll, currently, 55% of those polled do not blame Bush for the response to Hurricane Katrina. 46% approve of his handling of the crisis while 47% disapprove. I'm amazed that people who were so thorough in searching out Bill Clinton's imperfections are willing to cut Bush so much slack. (My pet theory is that the American public does not expect competence from the Bush administration. Sort of like how Microsoft trained millions of computer users to think that it's absolutely normal for your computer to crash routinely for no reason and for software to ship with blatant bugs.)
Sadly, this makes me think that Bush will be able to nominate whomever he wants and the country will accept it gladly. Is there a Bush personal friend whom he hasn't rewarded yet?
